radio microphoneRemember when radio stations used to have shows filled with “requests and dedications?” You could call up, get your voice on the radio, and play your favorite love song to show your sweetie you really were paying attention.

If you use Bronto for your email marketing, you can recapture a little of that feeling with dedicated IP addresses. Dedicated IP allows you to send all of your Bronto mail from a single IP address assigned only to your account.

Our Director of Deliverability, Chris Wheeler, recently gave us a great post on determining if a dedicated IP is right for you. If you’re not sure what dedicated IP is or whether you can benefit from one, check out his post.

If you’ve already decided on (or obtained) a dedicated IP, there are a couple of deliverability-related facts you should know. We’ll touch on those here:

Dedicated IP Addresses Whitelisting

Like all Bronto IP addresses, dedicated IPs benefit from Bronto’s close relationships with ISPs and email providers, including our whitelisting and feedback loops. In addition, our Deliverability team is always ready to help if you encounter problems getting your email delivered to a specific provider or domain.

Dedicated IP Sending Reputation

With a dedicated IP, the only mail coming from the IP address assigned to your account will be your own. Because of this, you can be sure that the sending reputation for your IP is the most accurate reflection possible of your list maintenance and sending practices. Making sure you have a clean, verified list and following best practices for mailings will help to ensure that your IP’s sending reputation is spotless.

This also means that having poor list hygiene or utilizing bad practices will certainly damage the reputation for your IP address. If you’re looking for a best practices resource, the Bronto blog contains tons of great articles and tips.

A very well-known man once said, “with great power comes great responsibility.” Using a dedicated IP to its full potential requires a little work, but the rewards in deliverability, reputation, and reach are great.

As always, if you have any questions about dedicated IP addresses, feel free to post in the comments or to open a case from the Support link within your account.
