Making The Grade With Reporting

They always wanted to know how you were doing and were quick to bring the hammer down if things went awry (C’mon you know we’ve all been there!). Imagine for a moment that you are the parent and your email marketing campaign is your child. As a concerned parent, you can take solace in knowing that Bronto provides you with a full suite of reports that let you keep your finger on the pulse of your email marketing efforts. If things start to go awry, Bronto can instantly provide you with reports that let you see exactly where the problem is (be glad none of your teachers were like Bronto!).

Customizing The Dashboard

For you busy parents, Bronto’s customizable Reporting Dashboard can be a real time saver. In addition to the default reports already on the Reporting Dashboard, every other report that is available on the Reporting tab can be added to the Reporting Dashboard for quick access.Bronto Reporting Dashboard

To add a report to the Reporting Dashboard

  1. Go to Reporting->View All Chart Categories.
  2. Bronto Reporting Chart Categories

  3. Click on the chart you want to add to the Reporting Dashboard.
  4. Click Add To Dashboard.

Customizing Reports

Each type of chart shows the metrics for all of your accounts by default. However, you can change the chart variables to target specific data in your account. To begin customizing a chart, click on the name of the chart from the Reporting Dashboard or Chart Categories page. Each chart type has different variables that you can select to narrow the focus of your chart. Depending on the type of chart you are viewing, you can set the chart variables to show data from a specific list, segment, message, delivery, etc. When you select chart variables, both the graph and the data table will change to reflect the metrics for the chart variables you defined.

Show Off Your Achievement: Downloading Reports

Downloading a report lets you see a chart’s data represented in an Excel file (.CSV file format). The data in the downloaded report will reflect any of the changes you have made to the chart variables. Once in .CSV format, you can manipulate the data in a variety of presentation formats (from features built into Excel, to Google Charts API) and display the metrics behind your successful email marketing campaign for all the world to see!

Question about segments and reporting. Does one have to send a message to a segment in order to get reports on that segment? For example, if I create a segment of people born in May, but send the message to all contacts (including those born in May), will I be able to get the open rates, etc., for those born in May?

Tracy,
All you would have to do to find out the open rates for the example you gave above is go to Contacts->Segments. From here, click on the name of the segment you want to find open rates for (i.e. the May segment). You will be taken to the overview page for that particular segment. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will see a table containing metrics describing the overall performance for this segment. In this table, you will be able to find all the messages sent to this segment, as well as their corresponding open rates. Hope this helps, and let us know if you need anything else!
