Building Blueprint

I’m no carpenter, but if I were to try and build a house, I’d never dream of starting the project without a blueprint. In construction, a blueprint gives you a solid layout to follow – every aspect of the building process is based on that crucial first step. When composing an email, a template can give you that same kind of foundation for your creative process. That’s why you’ll find every Bronto account includes over 100 free templates for use (available on the Templates sub-tab under the Default heading) as well as a comprehensive PDF document that outlines how to create your own templates with editable and repeatable content sections.

Recently, though, we’ve received feedback from some users that you’d like to see a hands-on sample template that you can download and use to create your own. We heard those requests loud and clear, and here’s the result:

Bronto’s All-New Sample Template

The code for this basic template is available for you to copy and customize. You can reference it as a guideline while building your template, or you can modify the code to your desired appearance and use it as your own. In the HTML code, you’ll find at least one of each type of content section (plain text, rich text, image, link, and survey), as well as comments in the code like the one below that will provide details about each type of section.

How Do I Use It?

Ready to get started building your own message? Designing Custom Templates Help TopicYou can find the sample template code within your Bronto account on the Help tab. Simply type “template” into the Search box, and you’ll see the “Designing Custom Templates” help topic. About halfway through the “Designing Custom Templates” help topic, you’ll see a section called “Complete Custom Template Example Code” which contains the source code for the example template shown above. Just copy the HTML code, paste it into your editor of choice (including the Bronto WYSIWYG editor), and you’re on your way! In addition, if you if need ideas on how to make that template “pop,” check out this recent post from our Bronto Best Practices Blog: 10 Suggestions to Improve Email Templates.

As always, if you have any additional questions about using the sample template (or other templates) within Bronto, please feel free to leave comments or open a support case within your Bronto account.
